Prosecutor Facing Criminal Charges
The same prosecutor who handled the Bruno Mars and Paris Hilton drug cases has himself been charged with conspiracy, felony drug crimes and
weapons charges.
David Schubert, the former Deputy Clark County District Attorney, sent his own lawyer to receive the four-count criminal complaint last week. His attorney, William Terry, told the court that Schubert will plead not guilty to all of the charges against him. The Las Vegas judge set the date for his arraignment for Oct. 13.
The incident that warranted these multiple charges happened on March 19 when Schubert was observed attempting to purchase $40 worth of rock cocaine. Officers later found an unregistered firearm in his vehicle, prompting the weapons charge. As a result of his arrest, Schubert resigned from his post on April 1.
If found guilty of all the charges against him, Schubert could easily spend decades in jail.
