'Life coach' allegedly swindles $250,000 from couple
Richard Bernstein, a man who presents himself to potential clients as an executive and life coach, is facing charges for securities fraud and theft crime after allegedly swindling a married couple out of $250,000.
According to the Nevada Attorney General's office, Bernstein appeared in court Thursday for an initial hearing at the Las Vegas Justice Court. Bernstein gave recommendations to the couple to invest in a business venture known as Turn-Key Financial Group, which he would be running. He allegedly told the couple that he would match their investment and that the funds would be used for business expenses to run the company.
It was allegedly discovered that Bernstein instead had spent an enormous amount of the money on personal expenses, including the purchase of vehicles (a bentley and BMW) for himself and his wife. Bernstein faces up to 20 years in prison and a $500,000 fine if convicted.
