Cold Case Leads to Arrest in Las Vegas
In June of 1985 an aspiring model named Joanne Marie Jones, 23, was found dead in Azusa Canyon after having been reported missing in April earlier that year.
The suspect involved with the case, Stafford Joel Spicer, was arrested and tried, but released later due to a lack of evidence. The cold case was re-opened recently however, which led to new DNA evidence pointing to Spicer once again.
Spicer was arrested by the Los Angeles cold-case unit detectives in Las Vegas, where he now resides. The L.A. Sheriff's office hopes to extradite him in connection with the newly discovered evidence.
