Police Officer Accused of Domestic Violence
In a reversal of roles, a Las Vegas police officer found himself in cuffs last weekend.
According to police reports, officers were called out to the home of James Anthony Segura, 40, an officer with the Metropolitan police. Shots had reportedly been fired, and when the officers rode up, they found the victim attempting to run away. His ex-wife told officers that the two had gotten into an argument that quickly turned physical; he began to strangle her and then fired a single shot. Since she began running as soon as she saw Segura reach for the gun, it is uncertain whether he was aiming at her or not.
Segura was held at the Clark County Detention Center and later released. At this time he is on paid administrative leave. He has worked for the department since 2004.
