Undefeated Boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Charged with Grand Larceny
Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is facing grand larceny charges for allegedly stealing his ex-girlfriend's iPhone. Mayweather, whose fighting name is "Money," is undefeated, having won 41 fights. He earned $20 million earlier this summer in one fight alone.
Josie Harris, who is the mother of Mayweather's three children and was his girlfriend for more than 7 years, called police on Thursday with a domestic violence complaint. She alleges that he threatened her, which is in and of itself a battery charge, and also claimed that he punched her head, pulled her hair, and held and twisted her arm.
Mayweather has not been charged with assault, battery, or domestic abuse in this instance. He was taken to Clark County jail and was released on $3,000 bail. His lawyer has stated that Harris's iPhone was not stolen but has merely been misplaced.
Mayweather has had multiple run ins with the law in recent years. He has been arrested for assault and battery before, and has even been to trial for domestic abuse against Harris. During the 2005 trial in which Harris had previously claimed that he hit and kicked her, she recanted her story and admitted that she made up the domestic abuse claims because Mayweather was with another woman.
