Burniss Eugene Yarbrough, 52, is currently being treated at University Medical Center for a gunshot wound to the head and to the chest. When he is released from the hospital, he will be arrested and charged with domestic battery, assault with a deadly weapon, ex-felon in possession of a firearm, false imprisonment, and attempted murder.
According to Yarbrough's ex-girlfriend, he beat her and did not allow her to leave, threatened to kill her, and numerous times put the gun to her head and pulled the trigger. Either the gun was out of bullets or was malfunctioning, because he never actually shot his ex-girlfriend. The woman was held for two days until Yarbrough apparently shot himself in the head and then again in the chest. .
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances of the case.
