District Attorney for Nye Counting Facing DUI, Embezzlement Charges
Nye County District Attorney Bob Beckett is now facing DUI charges on top of pending embezzlement charges from last May. At the time of the arrest, he was out on bail for the embezzlement charges, which allege that he used office money to give to family and friends in the form of "donations."
The police report says that he was sitting in his car, which is a work vehicle and thus county property, and that when he was asked to perform multiple field sobriety tests, he failed all of them. It is unknown whether he submitted chemicals tests or what the results were.
Beckett has been charged with driving under the influence before. In 2008, he was involved in an auto accident and it was determined that his blood alcohol content was higher than the legal limit, .08%. He did not have to spend any time in jail as he was able to work out a deal and plead guilty to reckless driving.
