8 Year Old Girl Abducted, Sexually Assaulted by Gang Member
Tuesday morning, an 8 year old Fresno girl was playing outside her home when she was approached by 24 year old Gregorio Gonzales. Although she resisted the attempt, he kidnapped her. Police issued an Amber Alert in Las Vegas, and because of the alert, someone recognized Gonzales' car and cut him off, prompting him to remove the girl from his vehicle before driving away. Kidnapping is a federal offense, but Gonzales has not been caught.
The girl had already been sexually assaulted by Gonzales near a canal. According to police reports, Gonzales is a gang member, belonging to the Bulldog street gang.
Amber alerts take information about missing children who are in imminent danger and releases that information to the public. It is designed to help facilitate the recovery of the children. Often, these alerts are issued when one parent kidnaps their children from their spouse or ex-spouse. Random acts of kidnapping are more rare.
