Robbery Suspect Holds Bartender Hostage and Is Shot by Police
An attempted robbery was thwarted by police Monday morning. The incident occurred at P.T.'s Pub on Nellis Blvd. The officers arrived at the scene after getting a call that a robbery was in progress.
When they entered the bar, they found the 23 year old suspect holding the bartender hostage with a knife. A knife is considered to be a dangerous or deadly weapon in this scenario. The suspect refused to follow police direction, at which point he was shot. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical center, where he died.
The three officers who fired at the suspect have been placed on paid administrative duty, which is normal for these situations. A customer in the bar was also injured during the incident, but details about his condition have not been released. Metro police are still investigating the attempted robbery and interviewing the few customers who were inside.
