Former Police Officer Charged with Attempted Murder
Former Las Vegas police officer William Ronald Webb Jr. has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, another count of conspiracy and drug trafficking. It is alleged that Webb and another conspired to kill his girlfriend in order to collect insurance.
According to police reports, Webb attempted to kill his girlfriend, lawyer and local TV personality Nancy Quon, by giving her a deadly drug cocktail containing gamma-hydroxybutyric acid, which is also known as GHB or the date rape drug. The case is unusual in that police believe Quon may have also been suicidal, or her suicide attempt may have been part of their plot to defraud insurance companies. The couple was under investigation for homeowner's association fraud.
Webb is currently at the Clark County Detention Center where he is being held without bail. Quon has recovered from the attempted murder but may be facing federal charges as well.
