Donation Jar for Employee's Surgery Stolen
Roger McCarthy, an employee at Stetson's Sports Book, has recently had to undergo triple bypass surgery. He is still recovering in the hospital until the doctor gives him permission to leave, which is expected to happen in early January. His employer started a collection for him to help him pay his bills and for the extra holiday expenses. The donation jar was placed near the register at the store, and many regular customers donated money to him. Then, the jar was stolen.
Security camera footage shows a regular customer who had only weeks prior wished McCarthy well, taking the jar and the money inside. Police cannot press any charges against her because the money did not technically belong to anyone. The employees at Stetson's have refused to name the culprit, and seem genuinely baffled by the theft. The jar had almost $300 in it when it was stolen. Stetson's owners were kind enough to repay McCarthy for the stolen donations.
