Couple Charged with Arson after Domestic Dispute

30 year old James Kdoni and 43 year old Rebecca Summerlin have both been charged with 1st degree arson after their apartment was set on fire during an argument.

According to neighbors, the couple had been fighting all night, and the fire started around 7:00 a.m. Kdoni is a resident of the Palm Terrace Apartments. Summerlin is apparently not on the lease. It is not entirely clear how the fire was lit, although speculation suggests that Summerlin was unhappy with Kdoni's attempts to vacate her, and she began throwing matches.

The fire was mostly contained to their apartment, although the next door unit received smoke and soot damage. It is estimated that the fire caused around $35,000 worth of damage.

If they are convicted of 1st degree arson, a category B felony, they may face up to 15 years in prison and up to $15,000 in fines, in addition to other costs associated with the fire.
