Tre'Von Willis, the 6'4" guard for UNLV's basketball team, was arrested on Tuesday for felony domestic battery. He is being held in a Henderson jail for $18,000 bail.
The alleged victim, 28 year old Skye Sanders, told police that he began attacking her early Tuesday morning. She claims that during an argument, Willis attempted to strangle her. He is also accused of coercion and grand larceny because Sanders claims he stole her cell phone.
Domestic battery by strangulation is a felony charge, and if convicted, Willis can face up to 10 years in prison and $15,000 in fines. There are around 20,000 domestic violence charges in Las Vegas each year, and 1/3 of domestic violence homicides are committed via strangulation.
