Juan Enrique Ramos-Garcia, a man from Chino Hills, CA, is being charged with drug distribution in Las Vegas.
Ramos-Garcia was pulled over by North Las Vegas police for a traffic violation, and a drug-sniffing dog detected the methamphetamine in his trunk. Police found 16 pounds of the Schedule II controlled substance in a suitcase in the trunk of his rented car.
Possession with intent to distribute is a federal crime and a felony. He could be sentenced to at least 10 years in prison and a $4 million fine.
Methamphetamine is a psychoactive stimulant that has a high potential for abuse. Nevada has one of the highest rates of methamphetamine use in the United States, and it's popularity is growing among teens and young adults.
