Two Nurses Investigated for Intentional Malpractice

Two nurses whose names have not been released are being investigated for purposefully disrupting catheter lines at Sunrise Children's Hospital. After two initial disruptions, the hospital intalled video cameras, added security, and notified law enforcement officials.

Overall, there were 14 catheter disruptions at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. 2 of those 14 have caused further injury to the patients, one of which required another medical procedure, and the second of which is in critical condition.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a section of Sunrise Children's Hospital that specializes in premature and ill newborns who have life-threatening conditions. The newborns have to be kept in very particular conditions in order to survive.

The nurses in question have had their licenses suspended and are listed by Metro Police as "persons of interest." There is no reported motive for the catheter disruptions and it is not reported if they have retained a Las Vegas Criminal Defense Lawyer.
