Gunman at Costco Shot by Police

Last weekend, a man was shot and killed by police at a Costco in Summerlin. The gunman, whose name has not been released, entered the store in the early afternoon and was damaging merchandise. Store security called the police because of the disruptance, and when they noticed he had a gun they began evacuating the store. Police credit this swift action with possibly saving the store from more injuries or deaths.
When police arrived, the store was in mid-evacuation. The gunman was near the front door, but when officers verified that he had a gun in his belt and ordered him to get on the ground, he refused. He then reached for his gun and three different officers all shot him. Reaching for a gun is considered a threat of violence and assault. He died from the gun wounds at University Medical Center.
No one else was injured, although there were about 20 people nearby when the shooting occurred.
The three officers who shot the man are now on paid administrative leave during the investigation. It is standard procedure and there is no indication that they responded wrong.
