Sunday afternoon, Metro police responded to a domestic violence call in the Summerhill Pointe Apartment Complex. The caller said that her husband had shot her ex-husband in the leg. Law enforcement officers did not know any other details about the situation, and were confronted by the current husband when they arrived. It is unknown whether he threatened to shoot the police or if he attempted to. His behavior lead the officers to shoot him; he is currently in critical condition at University Medical Center. If he recovers, he will likely be charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
The wife later explained that her ex-husband was helping her and her current husband move into a new apartment. An altercation between the two men lead to the initial shooting. Her husband is in stable condition at University Medical Center.
Police are working to obtain a warrant to search the apartment, hoping to obtain more information about the shooter's behavior and motives. They did not state whether they thought drugs were involved.
