Smartphones, Apple Products and URL Shorteners Top Targets for Internet Crime
McAfee, a prominent internet security firm, has released its list of the mots likely targets of internet crime next year. In general, the products and services that are most likely to experience malicious attack are those which are new and popular. Google TV and Apple TV are thought to be prime targets for these reasons. Wikileaks has also given the company some cause for concern. They believe that politically-motivated attacks are on the rise.
URL shorteners pose a particular risk, especially for users of social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. People are now used to the shortened URLs, which means that they are often more trusting of them than they should be. Foursquare, which gives a person's location in addition to their information, could also be used for non-internet crimes such as burglary or robbery.
