$13,400 of Salvation Army Donation Money Stolen
The Salvation Army, a non-profit group that collects money for charity during the holidays, has reported that more than $13,000 was stolen over the Christmas weekend.
The money, which is collected by volunteers with red kettles, was being kept in a back room where it is counted. The office had been closed for the holiday weekend, and they did not discover that the money had been stolen until they returned today. There was no sign of forced entry, no broken locks or windows, meaning that it was likely an inside job. The director of development and marketing, Charles Desiderio, has stated that either someone who was given a key stole the money or someone who had access to a key stole the money. This is the first instance of a burglary from the organization in Las Vegas in the 11 years that Desiderio has been working there.
The Salvation Army in Clark County collected around $400,000 this holiday season.
