Specialty "Women in Need" Court for Habitual Prostitution Offenders

In 2007, Las Vegas began a specialty court program called "Women in Need" (WIN) that was aimed to assist women who had been through the court system multiple times for prostitution related crimes, such as theft and drug offenses. Many of the women whom the WIN court sees are homeless, drug addicted, and have been abused.
In lieu of jail or prison time, the court offers the women a chance to rehabilitate their lives through drug addiction and other treatment programs. The rehabilitation is group based, so each woman feels the support of the group as she recovers.
WIN also helps these women complete their high school equivalency degrees, receive vocational training, and get counseling.
Not all women in the program make it through; those who commit crimes again while in the program are sentenced to 180 days in jail. Of the 8 graduates, though, zero have reoffended.
The WIN program can be a great deal for women looking to get out of doing jail time and turn their lives around.
