Socialite Paris Hilton Arrested for Cocaine Possession in Vegas

Socialite and businesswoman Paris Hilton has been arrested --again-- on felony drug charges. She and her boyfriend, Cy Waits, who manages a club at the Wynn Las Vegas, were pulled over by police around 11:30 p.m. on Friday after a motorcycle cop smelled marijuana smoke coming from the car. According to some reports, Hilton asked if she could get something from her purse when a small bag of cocaine fell out. The arresting officer then checked the purse and found ZigZag rolling papers as well as half an Albuterol tablet.
Hilton has since claimed that the purse and cocaine were not hers, in part using the defense that it is not a high enough quality bag for her to own. She has, however, said that the Albuterol and the rolling papers belonged to her.
The amount of cocaine that was in the purse resulted in a felony charge, albeit a low grade one. If convicted, she would likely face probation. Probation violations, on the other hand, would mean she would have to spend 1 to 4 years in jail.
Hilton was detained in South Africa earlier this summer on suspicion of marijuana possession. She was released without any drug charges being filed. She previously has had trouble with the law; in 2007 she plead no contest to an alcohol-related reckless driving charge and she famously spent 23 days in jail.
