Wednesday night, a man was reported as driving dangerously on the U.S. 95. Reports indicate that he was driving aggressively, had hit at least one car, and appeared to be suffering from road rage. When 21 year old Eduardo Lopez-Hernandez was pulled over by law enforcement officers, he apparently was acting erratically, was angry towards other cars, and then started an altercation with the officers.
The officers report that they were then forced to subdue him using a Taser. It is unknown how many times Lopez-Hernandez was tased, or for how long. When officers saw that he was no longer breathing, however, they immediately began CPR and called an ambulance. Lopez-Hernandez was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m. at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.
Several officers and civilians were injured because of Lopez-Hernandez's actions. The investigation into his death is ongoing.
